Project Overview
Ziploc is a company that provides storage for food to stay fresh, and for life to stay organized, so the user can spend more time on what it is important. The storage containers come in various sizes and types to accommodate the user and object needs.
This project aims at the importance of storage and focuses on our daily lives by expanding the product to be more useful and interactive. Earlier this year Puerto Rico was hit by hurricane Maria and was left without water, electricity, transportation and many other necessities. The holidays being around the corner our focus is to bring support and the holiday spirit to the island in their current desperate needs. Through the Ziploc Gives Back ad campaign not only the user will benefit but donations will be given to Puerto Ricans to restore their homes and needs.
The members of the group were Ben Beyer, Marlene Gallegos, Tirah Kensinger, and Nanette Bernella (me).
Process
We began the process by deciding what are the problems by brain dumping ideas.
After coming up with multiple ideas, we polished and narrowed our ideas down and applied them to each of 23 marketing strategies.
Rough Thumbnails
We agreed to share the 23 strategies evenly and come up with a few sketches each. Here are some examples.
Matrix
After reviewing all of our rough sketches and gathering teacher's feedback, we developed our storyboard.
Final Thumbnails
After deciding to focus on the holiday theme, we made lists of different, well-known sayings for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. We also sketched ideas.
Digital Rough
From there, we went to the computer and made a mock up poster.
Color Palette and Font
We went with a color palette for the background that while in the theme of Christmas used a muted and less saturated color palette. The text is  off-white to keep the image the center of the ad. We used Helvetica Regular for the font to also keep the ad less focused on the text.
Outcome
In order to make our idea happen, we bought Ziploc boxes, stars, and lights to set up in the photo room. We took pictures and we edited the tree photo using Photoshop. Once the photo was set, we transferred the photo to Illustrator and completed the design.
Application
Here are few pictures of what will it look like if our advertisement is placed in a magazine or posted out in the world:
